Checkpoint Zero Announces Partnership with myTopo.com

Greenville, SC - March 20, 2003 - Checkpoint Zero today announced a partnership with online map vendor myTopo.com to provide its members with high quality topographic maps at a 15% discount off retail prices. All events in the Checkpoint Zero events calendar will now display a link directly to a topographic map of the race venue provided by myTopo.com.

These USGS based maps can be "custom centered" online; avoiding the need to purchase multiple USGS quad maps to cover one racecourse. Maps are printed on the highest quality waterproof and tear resistant paper, branded with the Checkpoint Zero logo, and shipped either folded or rolled. Users can customize such map features as labels, tic marks, and grid lines.

"This relationship between Checkpoint Zero and myTopo.com represents a first step towards our vision of providing the adventure racing community with a web site that goes beyond infrequently updated articles and stale gear reviews. The addition of high quality, online topographic maps to our calendar allows our registered users to do more than read about a race they are considering. They can instantly view the terrain they will be navigating, customize the map, and buy it. We believe this and other features still in development will set us apart from those sites focused on drawing "eyeballs" with editorial content alone", said Checkpoint Zero founder Paul "Yak" Angell.

"We are excited about our partnership with Checkpoint Zero, and look forward to bringing our maps to the dedicated athletes involved in adventure racing", said myTopo.com co-founder Tom Kohley.
