Internet Explorer Browser Instability
When using the customizing tools in MapCard Version 2.0 with Internet Explorer 6.0, you may experience an intermittent browser "crash". Internet Explorer displays a warning box indicating that it must shut down.

This problem occurs because of a bug in the Internet Explorer 6.0 and Java Plug-In from Sun Microsystems. It is most common on the Home Edition of Windows XP, although the problem can occur under certain circumstances on Windows XP Pro Edition or Windows 2000.

Solution

Upgrading to the most recent version of Internet Explorer and the Java Plug-In fixes this bug.

Step 1: Uninstall Java Plug-Ins

On your computer, go to Start >> Settings >> Control Panel and double click on Add or Remove Programs.

When the Add or Remove Programs window appears and loads, look for any instances of the Java 2 Runtime Environment. Select these programs and click Change/Remove. Completely uninstall the programs from your computer by following the uninstall prompts.

Step 2: Check for patches/upgrades for Microsoft Internet Explorer

The most recent version of Microsoft Internet Explorer is the most stable and fixes several bugs found in earlier versions.

Open Internet Explorer, and from the Help menu select About Internet Explorer. The current version of Internet Explorer 6.0 is 6.0.2800.1106. If you have an earlier version, such as 6.0.2600, please visit http://www.microsoft.com/ie/ to download and install the latest upgrades and security patches.

Step 3: Install the latest Java Plug-In from Sun Microsystems

Visit http://www.java.com/. This will bring you to the Sun Java download site. Follow the download instructions and install the Java Plug-In on your system.

Step 4: Test the new configuration with MapCard

Restart Internet Explorer and log into MapCard.com. You should be able to load and use the customizing tools without experiencing the browser instability.
